Summer 2010
Cherokee DeMolay
just returned from a great annual Conclave! We had a great
weekend of fun, fellowship and brotherhood. We returned to
Nancy, Kentucky for the first time since 2006.
We had several
distinguished guests including: Dad Robert K. Tutt, Executive
Officer Emeritus, Kentucky DeMolay, Terry Bowman, Grand Senior
Warden, Joe Conway,33rd PGM Grand Secretary, John Moyers, 33rd
PGM S.G.I.G. Emeritus, Roger Barnett, 33rd PGM Deputy Supreme
Council of Kentucky, Keith Klein, Active Member of DeMolay
International and Past Grand Master of DeMolay International.
Bob Taylor, Executive Officer of West Virginia, Worthy Grand
Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Sherry Whitt, Worthy Grand
Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Cole Younger. We also had
representation from the York Rite, Rainbow, Jobs and Amaranth in
attendance.
The Order of Eastern
Star presented Kentucky DeMolay with a very sizeable donation.
Brother Cole Younger and Sister Sherry Whitt made this
presentation at the banquet on Saturday night of Conclave. We
are very grateful to the Order of Eastern Star in Kentucky for
their generosity!
Both degrees were conferred on nine young men from Nancy,
Kentucky. We will be going back to Nancy on August 8th to
institute the first new chapter in Kentucky in many years. All
the DeMolay from Cherokee are very excited.
Cherokee
participated in various ritual and sports competitions. The
Cherokee Chapter team won the Chapter Proficiency trophy. This
is the ritual competition for opening and closing the Chapter.
Rafael Gonzalez won the Senior Deacon and Marshal Competition.
Mason Foster and Michael Lile both won preceptor competitions.
Team Cherokee also won the volleyball competition.
The degree of
Chevalier was conferred on Dad John Crisp and Cody Stevens. This
is the highest honor that can be conferred on an active DeMolay.
We are very proud of both these honorees.
Cherokee’s own Cody Stevens, State Master Councilor, presided
over Conclave. Cody has had a great year as State Master
Councilor. Cody was on the Installing team Sunday morning of
Conclave to install Brother James Bowling as the new State
Master Councilor. Cody is looking forward to petitioning
Suburban.
Cherokee extends its
gratitude to the whole Suburban lodge family for your continued
moral and financial support. We could not do it without your
support. Come out and visit us the first or third Mondays at
